AGRO-AI submits contribution to European Commission consultation on water-sector digitalisation

AGRO-AI submitted a public contribution to the European Commission’s consultation on accelerating the digitalisation of the water sector, outlining priorities for interoperable, explainable, and reporting-ready water intelligence.

AGRO-AI turns fragmented field data into recommendations, reporting, and a clean operational record of what was recommended, scheduled, and actually applied.

On 31 May 2026, AGRO-AI submitted a public contribution to the European Commission’s consultation on accelerating the digitalisation of the water sector.

The consultation will inform the development of an EU-wide Action Plan focused on modernising water management through digital technologies, improved data access, interoperability, and more effective use of water resources. The European Commission launched the call for evidence on 27 May 2026 as part of its broader Water Resilience Strategy.

AGRO-AI’s contribution focuses on a practical challenge: water data remains fragmented across weather platforms, soil-moisture systems, ET datasets, satellite imagery, irrigation controllers, meter readings, allocation records, and reporting workflows.

Collecting more data is not enough. Water-intensive sectors need systems that turn fragmented information into clear operational decisions and verifiable evidence.

For agricultural irrigation, this means preserving the full operational chain:

• how actual application compared with the recommendation;

• what evidence can be exported for reporting, review, or audit.

AGRO-AI is building an irrigation-intelligence layer for commercial agriculture. The platform connects with existing irrigation infrastructure, delivers recommendations, tracks scheduled actions and actual applications, and creates a clean operational record of water use and outcomes.

Within four months of launching its API product, AGRO-AI has expanded to more than 2,500 acres under management and completed technical integrations with global irrigation companies including Talgil and WiseConn. These milestones are part of a broader effort to make irrigation intelligence operational across installed infrastructure, rather than isolated inside another dashboard.

The European Commission’s initiative reflects a broader shift: water intelligence is becoming critical infrastructure. The next generation of water-management systems must help operators move from fragmented data to decisions, accountability, and measurable impact.
